

Prime Minister Stephen Harper Presented Opening Speech at 10th Anniversary
of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards
Toronto,
ON (April 8, 2006) -- The Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) is pleased to announce that
Prime Minister, Stephen J. Harper was present to address the opening ceremony
of the 2006 Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards, held on April 8, 2006 at the
Hilton Suites Hotel in Markham.
In
association with Centennial College – Centre of Entrepreneurship, Ontario
Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ming
Pao Daily News, ACCE honours outstanding seven Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs
from across Ontario annually.
2006
is the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards. To mark this important milestone, ACCE
proudly introduces a new and also the eighth award - "the Lifetime
Achievement Award". It
recognizes an individual, who through his or her life long endeavors and
business efforts, has demonstrated a significant and lasting contribution to
Canada, as well as to the Chinese Canadian business community. Nominations for the Lifetime
Achievement Award are accepted from across Canada, and this year, entries have
come from as far as Vancouver, B.C.

Association actively promotes social responsibility of entrepreneurs. We are
proud that our Award winners have made significant contributions to the
community and have made Canada a better place to live in.” said Fred Lai,
President of ACCE.

presented include:
1. Lifetime

3. Most Innovative

4. Most
Progressive Award, sponsored by Moneris Solutions

6. Award
of Merit, sponsored by Ministry of Economic Development and Trade
7. Best
International Business Award, sponsored by Export Development Canada
8. Entrepreneur
of the Year Award, sponsored by Bank of Nova Scotia

The
Awards were first established in 1997 to recognize the Chinese Canadian
entrepreneurs who have accomplished outstanding achievements, demonstrated
prominent activities supporting social responsibility, and contributed to the
overall Canadian community. The
Co-Chairs of this year’s event are Ms. Catherine Swift, President, CEO and
Chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, Mr. Norman Morris,
Director of Rogers Publishing Ltd. and Mr. Fred Lai, President of ACCE.
