As part of its 10th year anniversary, the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) established the Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize outstanding citizens who have made significant contributions to the Chinese Canadian business community as well as the overall community in general. Every year, the ACCE selection committee will announce one award recipient whose business, humanitarian, and/or philanthropic activities have enhanced the overall development of the Chinese Canadian business community.

 

Nomination Process

The ACCE Lifetime Achievement Award is open to any person who through his or her life's endeavours has demonstrated a significant and lasting contribution through his or her business efforts towards the betterment of the Chinese Canadian community.

Nominated by his or her peers as well as other Chinese and business associations and organizations, the award recipient is selected by an independent selection committee comprised of the president of ACCE and a number of independent community leaders and selected board members. To nominate someone for the ACCE Lifetime Achievement Award, download and complete the nomination form by December 31, 2009.

The following reference materials are requested to support the nomination:

• The nominee's current curriculum vitae including a list of the philanthropic or civic organizations to which the nominee belongs or has belonged, or has supported in other ways
• The nominator's letter stating concisely and persuasively why the nominee should be selected and making the case as to how the nominee meets the selection criteria stated below
• Three letters of support as well as the contact information of the nominee's supporters who are familiar with the nominee's outstanding contributions
• Any additional supportive documentation, such as newspaper and magazine articles, or references to journals, publications, and coverage in the electronic media

An interview with selected nominees will be used as part of the judging criteria, as the award will be based on the nominee's spirit and achievements, as well as their nomination application and supporting documentation.

Nominations will be compiled through ACCE head office, and presented for review to the selection committee. All nominees must have been born in Canada or have become naturalized Canadian citizens. Nominees can be selected from any Canadian province or territory and do not have to be of Chinese origin or descent.

Award recipients will be announced during the Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs Awards Gala on Saturday, April 10, 2010 held at the Hilton Suites in Markham, Ontario.

 

Selection Criteria for the ACCE Lifetime Achievement Award

Due to the longevity of award winners' contributions and dedication to improving the Chinese Canadian business/overall community, these role models are being recognized for their leadership ability, vision, determination, and humanitarianism. Award winners' activities will reflect the cumulative impact of their long-term dedication and involvement with their community, philanthropic contributions, and positive general and/or business impact on their local Chinese Canadian community.

All nominations should demonstrate long run and sustained contribution to improving the Chinese Canadian business/overall community through the nominee’s:

• Vision and Leadership -
  Is there an innovative aspect to this business such as the production process, marketing strategies, service approach, methods of distribution or export concepts?
• Business Impact -
  The nominee will have had an impact on the Chinese Canadian business/overall community; for example through verifiable economic success, exceptional management expertise, etc.
• Humanitarianism -
  The nomination will demonstrate the nominee's efforts to further Chinese Canadians' social or economic wellbeing as demonstrated through leadership in philanthropy or in community-based initiatives
• Inspiration and Motivation -
  Nominees will have been an inspiration to others, displaying professionalism, a consistently positive and motivating attitude, demonstrated ongoing respect for others, as well as having established a visible and long-term record of accomplishment that merits special recognition

Additional supportive documentation, nominee's curriculum vitae, and three letters of support must be submitted in order to be eligible for the selection.

Nominations that are submitted by e-mail must be formatted in Microsoft Word. Nominations may not be submitted by fax. All nominations must be received by ACCE on or before December 31, 2009.

February 28, 2011	-	ACCE Lifetime Achievement award winner is notified
April 2, 2011	-	ACCE Lifetime Achievement award winner is announced at Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Awards Gala
